CROWLEY -- Richard Joseph Pitts, 84, a retired self-employed landscaper, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at a Fort Worth hospital. Memorial service and inurnment: at a later date at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, N.J. Mr. Pitts was born July 27, 1921, in Scranton, Pa., to Joseph Francis and Estelle Capal Pitts. He married Rose Pawluck Jan. 11, 1947, in Scranton. She preceded him in death June 13, 2004. Mr. Pitts proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He loved vegetable gardening, was an avid reader and though he had not flown since World War II, he loved planes. Survivors: Sons, Richard D. Pitts Jr. and wife, Carol of Crowley, Ronald Pitts and wife, Maggie of Jupiter, Fla.; sister, Mildred Marco of Lyndhurst, N.J.; grandson, Richard Christopher Pitts of Crowley; granddaughter, Victoria Kelly Pitts of Nanuet, N.Y.; and great-grandson, Bradley Christopher Pitts of Crowley.
