Robert Swenson

Robert Ludwig Swenson age 87 of Burleson passed away Friday evening March 7, 2025. Robert was born September 27, 1937 in Canby, Minnesota to Ludwig and Mabel (Johnson) Swenson.

Robert attended a one room country school for grades 1 thru 8 and then went to Canby High School and graduated in June of 1955. Robert went on to South Dakota State University and graduated in June of 1959.

He married his High School Sweetheart Dorene Mae (Jants) Swenson on December 21, 1958.

Robert was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. He served 27 years of Distinguished Service in the Army and received several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also served two tours in Vietnam where he said by the grace of God he made it home. Robert retired as Lieutenant Colonel in November of 1986.

He didn't want to retire from life so he went into Restaurant Management and finally worked at Walmart before retiring from the workforce in 2009.

The Funeral Services for Robert Ludwig Swenson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday March 31, 2025 at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Arlington. Internment will follow after lunch at the DFW National Cemetery at 3:00. The Honorary Pallbearers are Wade Tongen, Derrick Bobo, Eric Swenson, Jonathan Swenson, Paul Swenson, and Christopher Swenson.

Robert Swenson is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Dorene Swenson, brothers Leonard and wife Janet Swenson, Maynard and wife Mabel Ann Swenson both of Canby, MN, and Robert & Dorene's three sons. Brad Swenson and wife Debbie of Burleson, TX and their children Heather, Caitlin and husband Myke Gardetto and their children Haley and Connor, and Eric and wife Anna. Robert Jr. and wife Beccy of Lohn, TX and their children Derrick Bobo and his children Trinity and Faith, Tanya, Ashlee, and Kyla and her son Everett. Barry and wife Mary Kay of Arlington, TX and their children Valerie and Husband Jake Malone and their daughter Amelia, Jonathan and his wife Savannah, Paul and his wife Beth, and Christopher and his wife Ace.
