Ronald Preston “Ronnie” Pollard was born April 13, 1940, in Lillian, TX, to Lewis Oliver and Virgie Irene (Gilreath) Pollard. He grew up in Alvarado, and graduated from Alvarado High School in 1958 before moving to Burleson in 1969. He has been an active member of First United Methodist Church Burleson for many years. The driving forces in Ronnie’s life were always his family and his love of the Lord.
Ronnie began working for York’s Grocery in Alvarado in the 7th grade, and continued working there through high school and beyond. Ronnie’s career in banking spanned an amazing 65 years, beginning as a teller in 1958 for Fort Worth National Bank. He quickly advanced into operational and management positions within the bank and its future successors before retiring in 1997. Unable to stay idle for long, he returned to banking for an additional 26 years, working with multiple banks before his final retirement from Chase Bank in 2023 at the impressive age of 82.
He married Jackie Bonney on June 21, 1974, and they celebrated their Golden Anniversary in June. After 50 years, 4 months, and 6 days, they were still as in love as the day they married.
He was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings: beloved sister Joyce Myrlene Pollard, Mary Grace Angel (Byron), Frances Lometa Horton (Harold), Truett Oliver Pollard (Barbara), Finis Lorelle Pollard (Sarah), Bobby Gene Pollard (Marie), James Lewis Pollard, infant sister Doris Sue Pollard, Bobby Gene Pollard (Marie), James Lewis Pollard, LeRoy Pollard (Ann Ell), and sister-in-law Bettye (Ritchie) Pollard. He was also preceded in death by three nephews: Daniel Otis Pollard, Stephen Keith Pollard, and Scott Anthony Pollard; nieces Linda Netherton and Deborah Broussard, and great-nephew Chase Pollard.
He is survived by his wife Jackie and daughter Jennifer Zielinski and husband Alex of Burleson, brother Bill Pollard of Alvarado, sister-in-law Yvonne (Mahanay) Pollard of Fort Worth, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, or to the North Texas Alzheimer’s Association, as Alzheimer’s took three of his dear sisters.
