Ronald C Rice

April 10, 1944 — March 19, 2023

Ronald C. Rice was born on April 10, 1944 in Amherst, Texas, to Ralph C. Rice and Maurine Hall Rice. He passed away on March 19, 2023, in Ft. Worth. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older sister, Judy Carol Rice Nichols. He married the love of his life, Janice Darlene Duncan, on July 23, 1960, in Littlefield, Texas. He is survived by his wife Janice, and their four children:  son Steven Craig Rice of Sherman, Texas; son Jeffery Dale Rice and wife Jannifer of Waco, Texas; daughter Leah Michelle Rice Wright and husband Gary of Burleson, Texas; and son Garrett Alan Rice and wife Debbie of San Antonio, Texas. Ronnie was the proud Poppie to twelve grandchildren - Jamie, Chase, Jordan, Courtney, Jonathan, Bridget, Jarron, Cassie, Caylen, Grant, Kyle, and Abby - and seven great grandchildren - Bryce, Brody, Kamryn, Olivia, Landry, Emerson, and Emilia.

Ronnie’s working career began as a farmer working with his dad in Littlefield. He then became a court reporter and had jobs in New Orleans and Dallas before settling down in Sherman, Texas.

In 1980 he made a career change and began working for the railroad, starting with the MKT (Katy) in Denison and then Union Pacific in Ft. Worth. In 1992 they moved to Joshua to be closer to work, and Ronnie retired in 2006 after 25+ years of service.

Ronnie loved sports. He was an athlete himself, playing football in high school and becoming an avid golfer for most of his adult life, but also enjoyed watching just about any sport both in person and on TV.  He has cheered on at countless sporting events and other activities over the years for all of his kids and grandkids.

Ronnie will be missed so much by his large family and all of his friends.
