Ronda Kaye Starnes Thomas, 67, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022, six months after she was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Ronda was born on September 11, 1954, in Pocatello, Idaho to Bill and Millie Starnes. She spent her childhood in Idaho Falls, Idaho with her parents and 3 siblings, Diana, Karen, and Tim.

She moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1973 to participate in the Adventures in Missions program through the Sunset School of Preaching. While there, she met the love of her life, Jerry Thomas. Both served In the AIM program as missionaries in Dublin, Ireland. After returning to the states, Ronda and Jerry married on June 27, 1976. They raised 4 children together in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ronda worked as a personnel manager for Wal-Mart where she served and tended to the needs of the associates there. After 32 years at Walmart, she retired in 2019.

Ronda worshiped at the Burleson Church of Christ where she enjoyed serving alongside her friends and husband.

Ronda was preceded in death by her father Bill Starnes and by her father-in-law Paul Thomas.

Ronda is survived by her adoring husband, Jerry, her four children, Amanda (Jesse Mook), Brian (Kristen Barnaby), Heather (Jimmy Hensley), and Nathan (Laura Holt), and 15 grandchildren, Hannah, Katie, Elijah, John Paul, Daniel, Thomas, Lucy, and Ruby Mook; Elena, June, and Charles Thomas; Kaylee and Ezra Henley; Josiah and Anna Grace Thomas. She is also survived by her mother, Mildred Hadley Starnes, her sisters, Diana (Von) and Karen (Steve), and her brother Tim (Carrie), her mother-in-law Louise, her sister-in-law Evelyn, her brother-in-law Patrick, many cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Ronda’s memorial service will be held Friday, April 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Burleson Church of Christ.
