Roy Wade Mercer

November 3, 1961 — September 29, 2021

Burleson

Roy Wade Mercer was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 3rd, 1961 and passed away in Burleson on September 29th, 2021 at the age of 59.

He was a graduate of Glen Rose High School where he was well known for his athletic abilities as 2nd team all-state tight end as well as going to state in the 330 intermediate hurdles as well as many other athletic exploits.

Roy worked in construction for the entirety of his professional career initially with Joey Parks running their company Cowboy Scaffolding and then most recently for Performance Contracting Inc (PCI) as a construction project manager where he was a frequent winner of the Eagle award for high sales performance.

Roy’s passion was his family and everything in his life revolved around getting together with them every other week to catch up on life and celebrate the progression of time together.  Roy and the love of his life Sandra enjoyed all their children and grandchildren.  He made sure to never miss one of the kids or grandkids events, cheering them on in whatever they undertook.  Roy loved all manner of games and generally was going to win, one way or another.

Roy was a master story teller, relating life experiences in a very humorous and personal manner.  Also, he was the master of the witty comeback.  You didn’t want to get into a verbal exchange with him.  He lived a full life with no fear.  Willing to take on any challenge demonstrating his capability to enjoy life to its fullest with those around him.  Roy was loved by all who met or had the opportunity to get to know him.

Roy was a man of character and quite frankly was a character himself.  Larger than life, he was always a joy to be with.

Roy is preceded in death by his father Roy S. Mercer, Jr.

Roy is survived by his wife Sandra, son Clayton and his wife Kristen including 6 grandchildren (Lilly, Lilah, Ella, Lucy, Poppy, Leo), son Cade and his wife Hillary including 3 grandchildren (Luke, Lydia, Samuel), daughter Morgan and husband Keith with namesake grandson, Bowen Wade due to arrive any day, and youngest daughter Alexandra.  In addition, Roy is survived by his mother Mary Mercer, brother Monte and his wife Kathleen and brother Stephen and his wife Amanda as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Roy will be missed by many and will forever live on in their hearts.
