Royce "Dub" Merck, 79 of Crowley, a business owner and entrepreneur, was called home Monday Aug. 3, 2009 at his home in Crowley. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Joshua Baptist Church. Interment: Caddo Cemetery in Joshua. Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic research. Royce "Dub" Merck was born September 10, 1929 in Levelland to Daniel Webster and Zula Cheek Merck. He married Autheryne Sue Cooper on Feb. 4, 1953 in Lovington, NM. Dub was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved sporting events and activities that involved his grandchildren. As a youth athletic coach he touched many lives. Survivors: Wife of 56 years, Sue Merck of Crowley; sons, Bobby Merck and wife, Sheila of Saginaw, Danny Merck and wife Kathy of Keller; daughters, Dubra Watts and husband Terry of Crowley, Brenda Dean and husband Rocky of Crowley; brothers, Jerald and Darvin Merck; sister, Gwen Smith; grandchildren, Kaleb, Kasey, Kyler, Danah, and Cory Merck, Tara Phillips, Dane and Trey Watts, Aubre and Aldan Dean; and three great grandchildren.
