On Sunday, October 27th, 2019, Ryan Michael Avera, our son, brother, uncle, friend, and teacher, passed away at the age of 28.
Ryan was born on May 14th, 1991 in McAllen, TX to Donald and Lee Ann (Massey) Avera. Ryan graduated from Burleson High School in 2009, where he was active in football and baseball. He found his passion for Biology and teaching while studying at Texas State University, where he graduated in 2014. He went on to teach Biology at the New Braunfels High School Freshman Campus, where he had a direct impact on hundreds of lives. Ryan loved photography and being outdoors, spending most of his time backpacking, paddle boarding, fly fishing, or spending time with his friends and dog.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Donald and Elizabeth Massey.
In addition to his parents Ryan is survived by his brother, Jonathan Avera, sister-in-law Kodi Avera, niece Elizabeth, paternal grandparents Paden and Maurice Avera, dog Georgia, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and students who he endearingly called his Sunshines.
