Shelby Jean Hampton

Shelby Jean Hampton, 80, of Joshua passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018. She was born Oct. 31, 1937, in Memphis, TN. to John G. and Pauline (Thigpen) Gray. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Northpointe First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Caddo Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Shelby loved life. She was pro-life and helped build the Cleburne Pregnancy Center. She started a thrift store to help fund the pregnancy center. She taught and trained Sunday school teachers for years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching birds. Shelby went to India and Peru on mission trips and went to all her husband's softball games. She was a great mother and grandmother. Shelby is survived by her husband, David V. Hampton of Joshua; children, Randy Hampton and wife, Sonia, of Weatherford and Paula Nowlin and husband, Gary, of Mansfield; grandchildren, David, Jesse, Justin, Keith, Krista, Wade, James, Bryan and Nathan; nine great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
