Shirley Greenroy

February 8, 1938 — April 16, 2025

Shirley "Memaw" Greenroy, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, mentor and friend, gracefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Burleson, Texas. Born into the Phillips family on Tuesday, February 8, 1938, on the family farm in Temple, Oklahoma, Shirley was a beacon of love, warmth and Jesus throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her lifelong love and best friend, Robert Greenroy, Parents, Joe and Rena Phillips, siblings Leroy Phillips and Betty Dyer, and cherished brother-in-law Terry Forbrich, Shirley's legacy of kindness and generosity remains a testament to the deep bonds she cultivated with her family.

She leaves behind her son, Mark Greenroy, and his wife Leisha of Joshua, Texas; her treasured grandchildren, Promise Crabtree and husband Shane of Burleson, and Tanner Greenroy of Georgetown, Texas. Shirley also joyously anticipated the arrival of her first great-grandson, expected to make his arrival in August of this year. She is also survived by her beloved sister Vicki Forbrich, as well has her nephews Drew Dyer, EJ Dyer, and Philip Forbrich, and her brother-in-law Ronnie Dyer, along with extended family members and countless friends.

A deeply devoted follower of her Lord, Savior, and friend, Jesus Christ from a very early age, Shirley's faith was her foundation for life. Over the years, she grew to know Jesus more deeply, serve Him more passionately, searched out His Word endlessly, and shared His love boldly with others. Her commitment to her faith was matched only by her eagerness to mentor countless men and women, guiding them to experience the true freedom Christ has given to them.

From a young age, Shirley was a sports enthusiast. She played sports in school and was an enthusiastic bowler, in her young adult years. One of her proudest achievements was coaching a boys' little league team to a city league championship. Her commitment to youth sports extended further as she coached young athletes in the Special Olympics, embodying her belief in everyone's value and potential.

Shirley was also dedicated to education, serving as a driver's ed teacher for the Spring Branch school system. Her career in public education spanned over three decades, culminating in her retirement from her varied administration and extracurricular roles. Her students and colleagues fondly remember her patience and unwavering support.

Even in retirement, Shirley's heart for service did not wane. She found immense joy serving as the Director of Intercessory Prayer and as a Biblical Counselor with Crazy 8 Ministries based out of Joshua, Texas. Her Biblical guidance and spiritual wisdom made a profound impact on those she ministered to.

Shirley and her late husband, Robert, shared a love for the western lifestyle. They were lifelong members of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. As such, they served for many years on various committees and assisted with numerous events, contributing to a community they held dear.

Shirley will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of sharing life with her. Her warmth, wisdom, and kindness have left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She truly lived a life filled with love, faith, and service.

And to quote Shirley's own words, "that's all I know about that."
