Stanford Gilchrist

Stanford (Stan) Ennis Gilchrist, 84, of Crowley passed away January 31, 2013 in a Fort Worth hospital. Service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 2, 2013 First Baptist Church of Crowley. Interment: 11:30 AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at DFW National Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 PM, Friday, February 1, 2013 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Stan was born March 29, 1928, in Granite, Oklahoma to John and Velma Norris Gilchrist. He married Delores on July 2, 1952 and was an excellent caregiver to his wife. Stan was an active member of First Baptist Church of Crowley. He loved traveling in his RV and going to bluegrass festivals. Stan is retired from Montgomery Wards and Ryder Logistics. Also retired Navy Reserve after 37 years of service. Stan is preceded in death by: Parents and sister, Madge Williams. Survivors: wife, Delores Gilchrist of 60 years, of Crowley; son, James Gilchrist of Burleson; daughter, Elaine Smith of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Clem of Greenwood, Arkansas and Jamie Williams and husband Brian of Alma, Arkansas; brother in law, Weldon (Sam) Cook of Altus, Oklahoma; 4 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
