BURLESON -- Stanley Dowings, 19, of Burleson, a college student, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at his residence in Burleson. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Joshua. Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua. Interment: 4 p.m. Saturday in New Salem Cemetery in Prescott, Ark., with visitation preceding the interment from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at New Salem United Methodist Church. William Stanley Dowings was born Sept. 27, 1989, in Fort Worth to Donald Lester and Lucy Thompson Dowings. He was a 2008 graduate of Joshua High School where he played varsity football for three years, and moved on to play semi-pro football after high school. He enjoyed fishing and hanging out with friends, especially Kelly. He was preceded in death by his father in 2000. Survivors: Mother, Lucy Dowings of Burleson; sister, Holly M. Dowings of Burleson; aunts, Mary Beard of Hope, Ark., Sue Monroe and husband, Gary, of Lampassas, Mildred Stallsworth of Benton, La., Margaret Schaeffer of Fouke, Ark., Minnie Hart of Wink; numerous cousins; best friends, Austin Warner, Aaron Warner, Josh Ford; and girlfriend, Kelly Fowler of Joshua.
