Stephen F. Downie passed away unexpectedly July, 10, 2021.
He was born September 17, 1945, to Archie and Eloise Downie in Evanston, Illinois.
After graduating from Deerfield High School, he joined the Air Force, where he was stationed in Guam as a refueler. Over the years he has been a long-haul trucker, crop duster, flight instructor and crewed for hot air balloons. After 31 years as a diesel mechanic at the Fort Worth ISD he retired in 2013.
Stephen enjoyed photography, taking classes and going on photo workshops where he met his wife of 29 years. He enjoyed working with wood, building and turning. He was learning the art of reloading in his later years. He was the family chef and enjoyed trying new recipes. Stephens greatest pleasure was being on the open road riding his 2003 Road King.
Stephen is survived by his wife Lee Ann Buettner Downie, son Cameron W. and dog Diesel. Several nieces and nephews, mother-in-law "MaMaa”, and in laws, best friend Phillip. He is predeceased by his parents, siblings Diane, Marta and Richmond, a nephew and nieces, father-in-law and childhood best friend "Bucket".
A Remembrance will be Sunday July 25th 2:30-5. At the Burleson Senior Activity Center 216 SW Johnson Ave. Burleson.
