JOSHUA -- Sylvia Jones Schroeder Ward, 94, a retired librarian for the city of Fort Worth, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Burleson. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Sylvia was born July 5, 1912, in Pauls Valley, Okla., to Charles and Emma Purselly-Fowler Jones. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime resident of Handley and a longtime member of Handley First United Methodist Church before moving to Joshua. She was very active in her church, Sunday school, bridge club and garden club, and enjoyed playing bingo. Sylvia just loved people in general. Sylvia was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Edward Schroeder, in 1967 and her second husband, Lloyd Earl Ward, in 2002. Survivors: Son, Terry Schroeder of Dallas, Ga.; daughters, Carla Schroeder Allison and husband, Dave, of Mansfield, Joan Schroeder Rash of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Lorene Johnson of North Richland Hills; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
