Teresa Odom

Burleson- Teresa Gail Odom, 51, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, while enjoying an outing with her beloved daughter Skye and friends at a state park near Houston, Texas. Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, October 19, 2012 at Burleson Church Of Christ, 1150 N.W. John Jones Road. Interment: Tye Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8PM Thursday October 18, 2012 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Burleson. Teresa was born April 8, 1961 to Robert and Jo Ann Odom in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Teresa attended Burleson schools, except for two years when she attended school in Fairbanks, AK., after which she returned to Burleson until she graduated in 1979. She was on the BHS cheerleading squad as "school spirit" during her junior and senior year. After graduation from BHS, Teresa attended Texas Women's University where she graduated with honors in 1983 with a BS degree in Occupational Therapy. Teresa was a registered OT with the State of Texas and worked with children at Bay Area Rehab Center in Bay Town, Texas. Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, and Alief School District for a total of 29 years, all helping physically and mentally challenged children. Teresa dearly loved children and devoted her life to helping anyone in need. She was a foster parent and would never turn anyone away. Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Robert C. Odom. Surviors: mother; Jo Ann Thomas and step-father, Richard L. (Dick) Thomas; beloved daughter, Skye Espejo; step-mother, Barbara Odom; sister, Becky Odom Gillaspy and husband Stell; niece, Jennifer Gillaspy Key and Daniel; great-niece, Kaitlyn Key; great nephew, Cameron Key; very close friend, Beth Carlson; several extended family and dear friends, especially Sarah Eden, who was like a sister.
