BURLESON -- Tom Shelley, a retired journeyman machinist, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Fort Worth. Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment: Bono Cemetery. Thomas Edgar Shelley was born October 16, 1941, in Cleburne, to E.L. and Eleanor Arterburn Shelley. Tom was retired from Texas Steel Company; as well as former owner operator of two local Burleson business, Shelley Tire Company, and Shelley Feed. Tom was a local cattle trader, and a member of Open Door Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and a member of the Cowtown 100 Bass Fisherman's Club, as well as a founding member of the Burleson Bass Club. Survivors: Wife, Marlene Shelley, of Burleson; son, Jon Shelley, and wife Darla, of Burleson; daughter, Joy Beth Mankins, and husband Tim, of Joshua; grandsons, Jon Michael Shelley, and wife Suzanne, of Burleson, Brian Shelley, and wife Brittany, of Burleson, and Jayson Mankins, of Joshua; granddaughters, Robin Donovan, and husband Tim, of Burleson, Taylor Mankins, and shelby Mankins, both of Joshua; great-grandaughter Addison Shelley; and great-grandson Cameron Shelley; brother, C.W. Davis, and wife Linda, of Burleson; sisters, Ada Powell, and husband M.G., of Burleson, and Sharron Mason, and husband Ralph, of Gonzales; numerous nieces; nephews; and friends.
