ALVARADO -- Tommy Jackson Mitchell, 64, a retired Johnson County Deputy Sheriff, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at his residence. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson. Burial: Burleson Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Mr. Mitchell was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Crosbyton to Elmer and Era Maye Curry Mitchell. He was a longtime peace officer in the state of Texas and retired from the Johnson County Sheriff's Department in 1995. Tommy loved his children, his boys and his grandbabies. He never met a stranger and was always there to help. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, LaWanda Joyce Mitchell; brothers, Ronald and John Mitchell; infant twin sisters, Lura Agness and May Francis Mitchell. Survivors: Sons, Donald Mitchell, Bradlea Mitchell and wife, Carrie, Russell Mitchell, all of Alvarado; brother, James Mitchell and wife, Jane of Columbia, Mo.; sisters, Shirley Little and husband, Dean of Alvarado, Judy Culbertson and husband, Jerry of Fort Stockton, Nicki Mitchell of Idalou, Karen Jordan and husband, Lance of Burleson; 11 grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
