Tommy Nichols, 85, passed away January 18, 2013. Service: 1PM, Monday, January 21, 2013 St. Ann Catholic Church, Burleson. Interment: Caddo Cemetery, Joshua. Visitation: 2-5PM Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Tommy was born October 3, 1927, in Bryan County, Oklahoma to Arthur Benton and Eva Elrod Nichols. He was a lifelong educator, having spent the last 21 years of his career coaching at Joshua Schools. Prior to that, Tommy also coached in California, Lovelady, and Nocona. Tom Nichols Gymnasium at Loflin Middle School, Joshua, was named in his honor. Mentoring Kids was his passion, coaching kids was his privilege. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita Nichols; brothers, Bobby Nichols, and Jere Nichols. Survivors: sons, Michael D. Nichols and wife, Angela of Joshua; Mark L. Nichols of Fort Worth; Matthew B. Nichols and wife, Susan of Kennedale; Christopher J. Nichols and wife, Sherri of Cleburne; daughter, Nita D. Wilson and husband, Gary of Spring; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Janice Johnson of Tyler; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations made in his name to the Joshua ISD Education Foundation, 310 E. 18th St., Joshua, TX 76058.
