BURLESON -- Tommy Derrell Owens, 64, a retired maintenance mechanic for Miller Brewing Company, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church (SMCPC), 380 N.W. Tarrant Ave., Burleson. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Burleson. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund for the prayer garden of SMCPC. Tommy was born Jan. 7, 1941, in Fort Worth to Thomas Alton and Robbie Owens Elrod. He married Martha Cooper on May 6, 1979, in Cleburne. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, loved baseball, drag racing, golf and hanging out with the Beefers Coffee Gang. He enjoyed bus trips with the Burleson senior citizens, was a member of SMCPC and loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife of 26 years, Martha Owens; sons, Derrell W. Owens, Sam Cooper and wife, Karen; daughters, Tammy R. Manuel and husband, John, Caren Robertson and husband, Joe; brothers, Marshall Elrod and wife, Charlotte, Bobby Elrod; grandchildren who named him "PaTa," Jennifer Disney and husband, Jason, Melani Skinner, Ben, Will and Taylor Cooper, Joey Robertson; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jackson, JaneAnn and Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
