Toni Landers, 66, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at home. Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Joshua High School Auditorium. Interment: Prairie Springs Cemetery in Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Toni was born April 4, 1947, to Merwin and Dixie Jean Beckwith in Fort Worth. She was a devoted wife, mother, memaw and friend who was commonly referred to as the "heart" of Joshua High School. Kids were her passion. Toni touched many lives during her 22 years as an educator at Joshua ISD. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Beckwith and best friend, Madeline Smithson. Survivors: Father, Merwin Beckwith of Burleson; husband of 44 years, Wayne Landers of Burleson; sons, Kevin Landers of Whitney, Kurt Landers and wife, Misti, of Grandview; daughter, Kristi Mayes and husband, Rus, of Stephenville; brothers, Steve Beckwith and wife, Carey, of Burleson, Stu Beckwith and wife, Dana, of Burnet; grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Maleigha Landers of Burleson, Mackenzie Mayes of Stephenville, Mason Landers of Grandview; extended family and friends. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any Community Bank in the name of Toni Landers Kindness Matters Fund to provide scholarship funds to deserving students.
