Troy Johnson was born in Cleburne, Texas on September 19, 1939, and passed away with his wife of 63 years beside him on Friday, November 25, 2022, in Burleson, Texas.
Troy Grew up in the Cleburne and Rio Vista area. Troy graduated from Rio Vista High School in 1959 where he met his wife, Glenda, and they married October 9, 1959. After graduation, Troy attended barber college and became a barber until he was drafted into the Army in 1963. After serving two years, Troy trained and became a Firefighter for the Fort Worth Fire Department in 1965. He retired in 1997 from the Fort Worth Fire Department after 32 years of service.
Troy was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Troy loved hunting, fishing, photography, puttering around in his man-cave/garage and being with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Troy and Glenda loved to travel after he retired. They traveled to most of the states and Canada, but his special place to visit was Aruba and took many trips there. Troy would do anything and go out of his way to help others.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Thelma Johnson, brothers, Billy Edwards, Johnny Edwards, James Edwards, Charles Edwards, and sister, Cecil Edwards.
Survivors: Wife, Glenda Johnson of Burleson; sons, Terry Johnson and wife Amy of Burleson, Robert Johnson and wife Julie of Burleson, grandchildren Ty Johnson and wife Samantha, Robert Johnson, Jr. and wife Jessica, Chris Johnson, Tristian Johnson and wife Paige; great-grandchild Troy Michael Johnson; sisters Millie Otwell, Ruth Carroll, Betty Vereker, and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Wings Over Texas Hospice that took such loving care of Troy during his illness.
