Troy Smith, 71, of Burleson, a retired Diamond Shamrock employee, died Friday June 12, 2009, in Burleson. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Crowley Assembly Of God Church, 721 S. Crowley Road. Interment: A private family burial will be done at a later date. Visitation: No set time scheduled. Viewing will be at Mountain Valley Funeral Home on Sunday. Troy Guy Smith was born Aug. 30, 1937, in Olney to B.F. and Ada Collins Smith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and married Melba Jean Fortenberry on Oct. 8, 1976, in Floydada. He lived in Dumas for 57 years and moved to Burleson in 2000. He was a member of Crowley Assembly Of God Church. He loved being a part of anything his grandkids were doing. He loved his church and people, and liked playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Brenson Smith, James W. "Jelly" Smith, Gene Smith, J.B. Smith; sisters, Ruth Kinikin, Bernice Giles. Survivors: Wife, Jean Smith of Burleson; sons, Carlos Lee Smith of Portland, Ore., Wes Durham and wife, Tonya, of Frisco, Rodney Durham of Burleson; daughter, Karla Karlene Smith of Dumas; grandchildren, Heather Duby, Tyler and Dylan Durham.
