Wallace Milton Jost

October 19, 1930 — July 16, 2022

Burleson

Wallace Milton Jost, 91, passed from this life on Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Burleson.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua.  A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Wallace was the fifth oldest of ten children born to Walter August and Elsie Immel Jost.  He was born October 19, 1930 in Fredericksburg, Texas.  After graduating Fredericksburg High School in 1949, he worked as a carpenter until he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict.  While stationed at Mineral Wells, he met his Mississippi sweetheart, Laura Belle Sanders, at church in Fort Worth.  Their courtship continued during his tour of duty in Newfoundland.  Wallace returned to Fort Worth and married Laura on September 4, 1953, and together they raised two children, Bruce and Dana.  In 1964, the family moved from Fort Worth and built a home and farm near Burleson.  Wallace worked more than 28 years as a machinist at DairyPak, but spent his evenings and weekends on the farm.  He enjoyed raising cattle, working on farm equipment, and especially enjoyed the fruits of his labor from a large garden and patch of Tennessee blackberries.  He could fix anything with a piece of baling wire.  He loved the lemon pie which Laura somehow made exactly like his mother’s and warm blackberry cobblers with ice cream.  His favorite sport was catching rainbow and brown trout along the banks of the White River in Northwest Arkansas.  He enjoyed his many visits with his sisters and brother and their families in the Texas Hill Country, laughing and sharing stories of their childhood experiences.  He honored his father and mother all the days of his life and raised his own family to love God and to acknowledge the Lord in all their ways.   He worked diligently to provide for his family and was a faithful steward of God’s blessings on his life.  He was quiet spoken unless there was a real necessity to be otherwise.  He was a peaceful man who gave comfort and wise counsel to many.  He dearly loved and was so proud of his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.  He certainly will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Belle Sanders Jost; sisters, Louise Yampolsky, Margaret Potter, Catherine Jost, Marilyn Brinkworth, and Ruth Klemstein; and brothers, William Jost and Royce Jost.

Wallace is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Harczo of Washougal, Washington, and Jeanette Biermann and her husband, Bobbie, of Comfort, Texas; his son, Bruce Milton Jost and his wife, Diane; his daughter, Dana Lorraine Jost Law and her husband, Jeff; 6 grandchildren, Cynthia and Nathan Buck, Kent and Laura Jost, Claire Law and Mackenzie Law; one great-granddaughter, Marley Buck, and one great-grandson due to arrive in October, 2022 to carry on the Jost name.
