JOSHUA -- Walter Lewis Winkler, 75, of Joshua, a retired machinist, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Greenacres Memorial Park in Cleburne. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels of Johnson County. Mr. Winkler was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Cleburne to Jesse and Effie Pearce Winkler. He married Gladys Kindt on Sept. 2, 1951, in Bryan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Winkler; and two infant children, Kathy Ann and Paul Douglas Winkler. Survivors: Wife, Gladys Winkler of Joshua; son, William Larry Winkler of Cleburne; daughters, Wynona Kay Gulley of Joshua, Marilyn Sue Thrash of Burleson; brothers, Robert L. Winkler and wife, Barbara, of Burleson, Donald L. Winkler and wife, Dwanna, of Emory, Terry L. Winkler and wife, Janet, of Burleson; sister, Evelyn Joyce Jenkins of Burleson; grandchildren, Anthony R. Gulley and wife, Racheal, Benjamen A. Gulley and wife, Jessica, Cameron J. Gulley and fiance, Trent Fox, Angela Morrison and husband, Adam, Valeri Ann Thrash and Sally Thrash; and great-grandchildren, Blaise, Kaitlyn and Randall Gulley, and Daneca Morrison.
