William "Tom" Martin Sr.

William Thomas "Tom" Martin, Sr., 72, passed away October 10, 2013 at home. Graveside Service: 1:15 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Visitation: 6-8 PM Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua. Tom was born January 5, 1941 in Conway, S.C. to William Leroy and Olene Thomas Martin. He was a retired captain in the U.S. Air force. Tom graduated from Conway High School in 1959. He received his Bachelors from the University of Omaha, NE, and his Masters from the University of Southern California. He enjoyed sports and was an avid racquetball player. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Sue Martin. Survivors: wife, Teresa Martin of Joshua; sons, Billy and Genevieve Martin of College Station, Steven and Lisa Martin of Allen; daughter, Heather and Joseph Gonzales of Helotes; 8 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 2 great grandsons; brother, Donald and Wanda Martin of Columbia, S.C.; sisters Carole and Glen Neil of Florence S.C. and Connie and David Askins of Florence S.C. and extended family and friends. The family requests that memorials be made to the Sue Martin Scholarship Fund.
