William Kenneth Taggart

William Kenneth Taggart, 82, of Egan, a retired U. S. Postal mail carrier passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010. Funeral: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Bethesda Baptist Church. Interment: Bethesda Cemetery. Vistiation: 6-8 p.m., Monday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House or the Bethesda Baptist Church Benevolence Fund. Kenneth was born May 23, 1927 in San Antonio to John Oliver and Kathryn Lea Tomblin Taggart. He was a loving husband of over 62 years, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Kenneth loved playing forty-two with his buddies and attending Navy reunions. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Altamaha stationed with the Pacific fleet; he also served 2 tours in the Naval Reserve. Kenneth was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, member and Past Master of the Alvarado Masonic Lodge # 314, a member of the Venus Masonic Lodge # 804, and served as Past Patron of the Alvarado Order of Eastern Star. Kenneth loved and was a longtime member of Bethesda Baptist Church, over 30 years and loved his Sunshine Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clifton and Hubert and sister, Janelle. Survivors: Wife, Bonnie of Egan; sons, Bill and wife Brenda of Cleburne, Wayne and wife Irene of Egan, Les and wife Gale of Fort Worth; daughter, Pat Hite and husband Bill of Austin; grandchildren, Lisa Laughlin and husband Steve, Angela Bartels and husband Sancho, Brian Taggart, Steve Taggart and wife Bobbi, Shanna Clark and husband Quentin, Christy Gardner and husband Larry, Tricia Hite, Kristy Harrell and husband Dustin, Billy Hite and wife Brenda; 11 great grandchildren; many special cousins; sister-in-law, Ethel Mullenix; 2 nieces, Louise Stevens and Sharon Jandrucko.
