Willie Roy "Bill" Smith, Jr., 71 of Joshua a self employed contractor, died Tuesday Sept. 22 in Fort Worth from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Thursday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. Bill was born Dec. 6, 1937 in San Antonio to Willie Roy, Sr. and Jelma B. Clark Smith. He married Norma Jean Smith on Aug. 1, 1967 in Cleburne. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Joshua. He enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his 75lb. watermelon he grew this past summer. Most of all he loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his father; and a daughter, Sally. Survivors: Wife, Norma Smith of Joshua; son, Roy Smith and wife Sandy of Forney; daughters, Charlotte Covington and husband Rudy of Arlington, Diane Goddard and husband Tony of Canyon, Barbara Schuman and husband Brian of Joshua; mother, Jelma B. Smith of Gorman; brothers, Johnny Smith and wife Ina of Gorman, Floyd Smith of Joshua, David Smith and wife Connie of Joshua, Donald Smith and wife Pam of Granbury, Leroy Smith of Joshua; sister, Charlene "Penny" Watson of Spring Branch; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
