JOSHUA -- Winford "Win" Oakes, 76, of Joshua, a Baptist Minister and missions developer for BGCT, died Wed. Aug. 6, 2008 in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Friday Aug. 8, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Burleson with visitation and fellowship following the service at the church. Interment: A procession to Caddo Cemetery will gather at Mountain Valley Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m., for the graveside committal service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Win requested a designated love gift to church development for BGCT/ Minnesota-Wisconsin, or to Community Hospice of Texas. Winford Bryan Oakes was born Feb. 7, 1932 in Paris, TX. to Chester Dock and Esther Pauline Young Oakes. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during Korea. He married Martha Lee Jordan on Oct. 6, 1951 in Paris, TX. He enjoyed baseball and the Texas Rangers. His passion in life was his family. His love was his work with his church through which he touched the lives of many people. Survivors: His loving wife of 57 years, Martha Oakes of Joshua; sons, Dale Oakes and wife Socorro of Cleburne, Les Oakes and wife Susan of Joshua; daughter, Amy Guzman and husband Oscar of Round Rock; brothers, Boyce Oakes and wife Millie of Austin, Larry Oakes and wife Patti of San Antonio; sisters, Karon Floyd and husband Gary of Paris, TX., Donna Sampler and husband Larry of Carrollton; grandchildren, Kathy Gaige, Kandy Lee, Keith Oakes, Gina Cluck, Anna Guzman, Jordan Oakes, Haley Oakes; great- grandchildren, Isaiah Gaige and Zachary Oakes.
