Woodie Clifton McCollum went home to his Lord on September 4, 2018 after spending as much time as he could with his wife of 52 years, Linda. Visitation from 6-8 pm, Thursday, September 6th at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, TX. Funeral Services at 10 am Friday, September 7th at NorthPointe First Baptist Church of Joshua. Woodie was born with his twin brother, Wallace, in Utility, LA on June 29, 1941 to Elvie Ellard and Clifton Lavelle McCollum. He graduated from Ferriday High School in 1959 and enlisted in the US Air Force, serving his country for four years in Japan and Germany. In 1965, he met and married Linda Sanderson in Houston, TX. In the years to follow, they created a happy life and family together, moving from Houston to Arlington, TX where they were members of Northside Baptist Church and later, Lamar Baptist Church. Woodie also loved his camping group and spent many pleasant years around campsites with them. In 2003, Woodie retired from professional life, and he and Linda moved to their new home in Joshua, TX. Here they have created a new family of dear friends at North Pointe First Baptist Church of Joshua and with their neighbors in Joshua Meadows. Woodie enjoyed spending time studying God's Word and in fellowship with the Sunday school class. Woodie is preceded in death by his parents, Elvie and Clifton McCollum and his brothers, Huey and Wallace. Woodie is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; Daughters, Sandra (Shawn) Metoyer, Deborah (Patrick) Malone, Tracy (Robert) Cadorine; Son, John McCollum; grandchildren, Melody (Cody), Alex, Kira, Erin, Katie; great-grandson, Calvin; brother, Ray (Ramona) McCollum; sisters, Syble (Stanley) Parma, sister-in-laws, Carolyn McCollum, Shirley McCollum, Barbara Robinson; brother-in-law, Lloyd Scott; as well as numerous other loved ones.
